Parish News - The End of a Generation
The generation who fought in World War One has now passed into history with the death in 2009 of the last 'Tommy', Harry Patch. At Westminster Abbey, The Queen, the Prime Minister and representatives from across the world joined families of those who fought in the 'war to end all wars'.
On 11th November 2009 Ted and Elizabeth Newstead of Kirkbampton were invited to the Service to mark the Passing of the World War Two Generation at Westminster Abbey in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.
