 Parish Council - Financial Information
Pound Notes

These pages relate to Financial aspects of the Parish Council. It is the Council's duty to use the money provided by the County Council in the most economic way possible. This is why when we are approached by the community to solve a problem it seems to take a long time for it to come to fruition as the budget is only looked at on an annual basis and funds cannot be "stockpiled" from previous years. Funding for work carried out by the Parish Council comes from you, the community, in the form of a payment (The Precept), paid to the Parish Council by the County Council from the Council Tax that you pay. So although it looks like money for projects in the Parish comes from thin air you are in a roundabout way paying for it. Please remember this when you put your ideas forward. There are other forms of funding which may be explored.

Parish Council - Budget and Precept
In November of each year the Council sits down and attempts to work out how much we need for the next financial year to run the Parish Council on your behalf. Kirkbampton Parish Council calculates its precept by preparing a detailed budget and it's total local precept consists of the sum needed by the Parish Council to employ staff and deliver services. This budget figure is then sent to Allerdale Borough Council and the amount is collected from the tax payers on our behalf by Allerdale District Council as part of your Council Tax.
Kirkbampton Council’s precept is a small proportion of the total Council Tax collected by Allerdale District Council.
The Precept figure is shown in the Budget and Precept figure in the link below.
