Grasscutting
is at this time the only work that is carried out by 3rd Party
contractors. Some small areas of grass that are unviable to
"contract out" are cut by local residents / farmers
for a small fee for which they are responsible for paying any
taxation etc.
For Kirkbampton Parish
Council the Grass Cutting contract is the major financial expense,
costing the Council approx. 20% of it's precept.
There are 4 sections to
the contract which may or may not be allocated under seperate
contracts or as one total contract. To view the areas of cutting
and also the contract information for this year click on the
link below.
Grasscutting
Areas and Contract details
The contract allows for
five cuts each year between the months of May and September,
the main growing season. The contract is a cut and let fly operation
with the clippings left on the surface of the grassed areas.
Certain areas, such as
the verge at Finglandrigg layby, will continue to be managed
sensitively to preserve and enhance the wild flowers that have
been pointed out to us by Natural
England who maintain Finglandrigg
Woods on our behalf. |
