Formerly a World War Two Airfield and recently as the final resting place of thousands of Cattle, Sheep and Pigs in the 2001  Foot and Mouth outbreak, Watchtree is now a managed access  nature reserve. Visit the site to see when access is available.

Hadrian's  Cycleway forms part of the National Cycle Network - route 72 running across Northern England between Ravenglass in Cumbria and South Shields on Tyne & Wear. The cycleway does not run through Kirkbampton but is close enough for  a detour.
